13oz Sashiki-Ori fabric
Article 002 - The Rummer Jacket
The Rummer Jacket is meant to be a utilitarian piece you can wear every day. We wanted to design something that was minimalist, but got all the little details right: two patch pockets on the outside, two interior pockets, brass snaps, and cinch straps at the waist. It's cropped at the waist, about the length of a trucker jacket. The sleeves intentionally start just off the shoulder, just to give you a little bit more room through the body.
Sashiko-Ori
We wanted a special fabric for this piece - something very wearable that continues to develop character as it's worn. This heavier, indigo-dyed 13oz Sashiko-Ori fabric fits the bill beautifully. It's been pre-washed to puff up the fibers for a softer, more comfortable feel, and the wash-down starts to show the natural texture and variation that will increase over time.
So why "Rummer"?
Steven grew up in the Bay Area, and the iconic glass-walled, post-and-beam homes built in the 50's and 60's by Joseph Eichler were part of the fabric of his childhood. When he moved to the Pacific Northwest, he discovered the work of Robert Rummer, who took Eichler's California Modern style and adapted it to our cooler climate.Rummer described his designs as "houses that bring the inside out or the outside in."
We hope the Rummer Jacket will make you happy, worn either outside or inside, for a very long time.
