We are Steven Heard and Rick Levine. Together, we're reinventing Dillon Montara, a classic San Francisco vintage-inspired clothing brand.

We create made-to-order, vintage-inspired clothing, in classic silhouettes with minimalist styling.

What’s in a name?

Originally created by Steven and Robert Patterson in 2014, Dillon Montara is named for two cherished Bay Area beaches bracketing San Francisco: Dillon Beach, to the north of Point Reyes, and Montara Beach, just south of Pacifica.

We've always loved time spent on beaches; the clarity and peace we get from the sound of the surf, the perspective gleaned from the long, ever-changing vistas, and the sense of detachment and remove from our day-to-day cares.

The name Dillon Montara serves as our reminder to remain thoughtful, to carefully consider details in the context of the whole, and to act from a place of calmness and patience.

As our skills and viewpoints have matured, we recognized we couldn't continue with the current methods and models of the fashion industry.

With today's Dillon Montara, we're recasting the brand as an antidote for short-lived, ill-fitting, mass-produced clothing. We're reinventing the process of sizing and fitting of garments.

We’ve learned we have more certain control over construction details, fit and overall quality if garments are designed and made under one roof.  From initial design concepts to the sourcing of materials to the actual construction of the clothing - we do all of this at our studio in Portland.

We're creating a manufacturing practice that supports making pieces sized and fit for an audience of one, just you.

We're putting a stake in the ground of the fashion industry to demonstrate that "better" is possible and practical.
